I went to a 7th day Adventist school and they didn't teach evolution?

Of course it should be. But fundamentalist Christian churches place their own unauthoritative misinterpretations of the Bible above objective reality. When reality conflicts with their guesses about the meanings of scripture passages, it's reality that must be wrong, because their biblical guesses are infallible (even though they conflict with the biblical guesses of the next denomination, whose guesses are also infallible).
