Problems with digital camera?

I recently (as in last six months) got a digital camera: a Fujifilm Finepix S, to be specific (I don't know if that will help my query). I take good care of it, and it's been running fine. Now, suddenly, it's just stopped working properly. When I try to press the 'play' button to make it return to pictures I've taken, it just loads, and loads, and....loads. Never gets anywhere. First I thought it was the batteries, and charged them up. However, all three times I've done this, the camera, as soon as I put the batteries back in, flashes up with the low battery sign. Could it be to do with the camera? Or am I just missing something really obvious? I'm completely baffled by it.
